Senegal

Senegal was both welcoming and exotic. It was the only country that we were married twice. Each ceremony took place with a different indigenous group; Wolof and Bedik. So very unique. And wonderful!

∆ Wolof: We were excited to attend the 'grand magal celebration for women' at the great mosque of touba. while there, we were honored by the 'guide' who performed our wedding rituals. over one hundred men, women & children participated in the fun. wow! ∆

∆ Beth preparing for the ceremonial meal to be served to the entire bedik village. Yummy!

∆ The local bedik women dressed and prepped Beth for the ceremony. then the entire village came out to join in the procession. when beth was brought to me, I had to pay one dollar to buy my bride. well worth the investment! The party lasted throughout the night.

    Morocco

Morocco... land of deserts, mountains, medinas, festivals and the Amazigh community.

Just after we experienced an earthquake,  while in Tafraoute, we stumbled upon an ancient Berber village... and guess what?  We met the owner of the last remaining, intact house, well over 300 years old. Now made into a museum.  So we got married, in the museum, and slept there overnight. The place echoed from voices and sounds of the past.

      Thailand, Phuket

Sawasdee krup.  Beth and I have been in Phuket for a week of diving and enjoying the wonderful Thai culture and food.

We went to the Buddhist temple in Nai Harn and spoke to the Monk. He was happy to perform a blessing for us.

        Cambodia

We met Chen in Angkor Wat.  With his gentle demeanor & spiritual wealth, at his young age, we connected instantly.

What better place to renew our vows then in an ancient site with over 1000 temples.

And it seems, everywhere we go, weddings find us.

          Cambodia Bunong Village and Ceremony

The Mandulkiri region, home of the Bunong, was an amazing experience. Jungle Trekking with Mr. Hong (who made the most delicious remote stew we have ever eaten). Hanging out with Ms. Ipud (our beautiful 45 year old elephant). And of course, a wedding ceremony which included music, dance and local tradition dating back centuries.
